Frequently Asked Questions:
How often should I come into therapy?
Counselling works best when all involved are able to keep track of the work that is happening. Starting off with a few sessions on consecutive weeks in a row can be useful for getting to know each other and helps a counsellor get a solid picture of the challenges you are wanting to work on.
Most people I work with come in every other week while they are actively processing. They come in weekly if they are struggling a lot or facing a crisis. They come in monthly if we’ve been counselling for awhile and they want to do long term maintenance or want to spread out their insurance over the course of the year.
Some folks come in every few months if they want support when something big or different arises in their life after we have felt like our initial work together is completed.
I invite you to see what feels good for you, and if it’s not working for one of us, we can chat about it!
How much do sessions cost?
Consultation: Free
Individual counselling: $155
Relationship Counselling: $200
Longer sessions are available and they cost proportionally more.
Please reach out if you want to discuss sliding scale options!
Do you do direct billing?
I do not. After paying for a session you receive an email with your receipt that should have all the information you need in order to submit a claim to your insurance.
Will my insurance cover our sessions?
Its always a good idea to check your insurance’s fine print. Many plans cover RSWs (Registered Social Workers) but some may only cover RCC’s (Registered Clinical Counsellors) so it’s worth looking at it ahead of time.
What happens if I forget to make a payment?
If you usually e-transfer but forget to, then I will send you an email gently reminding you. If I go to charge your card on file and it doesn’t work for some reason, I’ll get in touch through email and we can sort out whatever is going on.
How do I pay for a session?
Cash, E-transfer, Tap or card on file through Square-Up. If you prefer to put a card on file, we can take 5 minutes at the end of our first session to do that.
